Michael McCartney

Perishables and Produce Industry

Michael is the principal at Quality Logistics Management. For the past eight years, his consulting practice has been focused on RFID technology and implementation, specializing in all phases of RFID deployment and supply chain management. As a result of his participation and partnership with industry leaders and as the recognized RFID domain expert, Michael is a guiding force in communicating new developments in the RFID field. In 1999, his firm demonstrated the application of RFID Technology in a live setting the Produce Marketing Convention in Atlanta, Georgia. He has deep business expertise in reuse of returnable containers of all types, having designed containers for RFID and acted as President of the largest returnable container company, IFCO systems, Munich, Germany for 18 months. Recently the company was selected by the 26 member Reusable Pallet and Container Coalition to perform the first testing of returnable containers, to identify the right RFID tag and the right RFID locations for each of the participating companies.

Michael has been instrumental in developing the RFID Testing Center in collaboration with NewStar Fresh Foods at Salinas, CA. He is an EPCglobal member and active in the EPCglobal’s Business Action Group and was the former chair of the PMA’s RFID Produce Action Group. For the last 5 years, Michael McCartney has been a keynote speaker at RFID World and this year will be the pre-conference chair. Michael tutored in post-graduate International Economics at Oxford University, England, and earned a BA in Political Science from UC Berkeley. In January 2004, he received a graduate level teaching credential from the State of California.

Jaya Prakash Rao

Jaya is the founder & CEO of Voyona, a software company for regulatory compliance and reporting mandates such as Sarbanes-Oxley. Jaya has 19 years of extensive general management and strategic IS background, including strategy, mergers and acquisitions, business development, new products, and services delivery in consulting, industry and entrepreneurial settings. Previously, as the Chief Strategy Officer for Fox Technologies (FoxT), Jaya has been instrumental in pioneering the company’s vision and products in the Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) area. Prior to FoxT, Jaya served in leadership roles at a number of successful start-ups, including ArcSight, Vigilance (now part of Infor), and Corio (acquired by IBM).

The majority of Jaya’s career was at Oracle, where as a Senior Director, he was instrumental in pioneering several strategic initiatives including Oracle Business OnLine, Strategic Procurement, and Semiconductor Factory Execution System solutions. Jaya was also responsible for global account management including business development, service delivery, and customer support for Oracle’s major accounts including Motorola and Toshiba. Jaya has an MBA from W.P. Carey School of Business, Arizona State University and a BE in mechanical engineering with distinction from Osmania University, India.
