Sensitel Analyzes RFID Data for Ballantine Produce

Pinpoints Areas of Supply Chain Improvements

SUNNYVALE, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- December 13, 2006 -- Sensitel Inc., the leading provider of Tracking and Monitoring services to logistics and perishables companies, announced today that Ballantine Produce has leveraged Sensitel's TagMap™ to track and analyze product movement within its supply chain. TagMap™ service cleans and associates RFID reads from various retailers with supplier RFID reads, shipments and order data to provide pallet and case level tracking in real time.

TagMap™ processed large volumes of raw RFID reads from tagged Nectarine and Plum shipments to automatically map supply chain performance for the 2006 domestic season. The analysis revealed significant opportunities for improving store level performance, balancing inventory levels and reducing lead times. The detailed review of shipments and RFID reads also revealed opportunities where RFID infrastructure needs improvement.

"Sensitel impressed us with the depth of their RFID analysis," said David Silva, Director of Information Systems for Ballantine Produce. "TagMap™ has revealed that RFID data analysis can provide real benefits in reducing shrinkage and improving product visibility and overall supply chain performance. We are looking to leverage these insights into hard dollar savings."

"Perishables industry is ripe for moving to the next level of performance. Recent recalls in national food supply have highlighted the need for real time tracking of perishables," said Mohinder Sikka, CEO of Sensitel, Inc. "Ballantine Produce is leading with innovative approaches in reducing shrinkage and ensuring food safety."
